Over 60 ships have registered to arrive in Turku

13.03.2024

So far over 60 impressive ships from a total of 16 countries have registered to arrive in Turku, and River Aura has been dredged to safely welcome ships with a deeper draught. Alongside participants from Europe, ships as far as from Brazil and Ecuador will be seen in River Aura in July. Ships have until May to register for the event.

The biggest public event in Finland is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city once again. Currently the largest registrant is the 108 metres long three masted frigate Dar Mlodziezy from Poland. The latest registrant is Penlena, a vessel built in 1947 in the United Kingdom.

Vessels rarely seen in Turku, like the three-masted clipper Cisne Branco from Brazil (pictured above), and three-masted barque Guayas from Ecuador, are expected to amass visitors from all over Finland.

During the event days you can familiarize yourself with the ships by the riverbank, and more closely during special deck events, which can be held for both private groups and companies. More information about booking a deck event will be published during spring.

If you are interested in booking a deck event, contact the event’s project assistant Juhana Turpeinen, juhana.turpeinen@turku.fi for assistance.
